Your responsibilities

  • Undertaking coastal management studies, including SMPs, strategies, and StAR/PARs
  • Coastal hydrodynamic modeling using the MIKE software suite
  • Overtopping assessments using the Eurotop manual
  • Benefit/cost analysis in accordance with current best practice guidance
  • UK coastal management policies, current Defra, and EA FCERM guidance.
  • Inspection, feasibility studies, and detailed design relating to coast protection and sea defense structures e.g. revetments, rock armor, breakwaters, and embankments.
  • Design of maritime structures e.g. quay walls, jetties, pontoons, mooring dolphins, piers, berthing structures, steel sheet piling, lock, and dock gates.
  • Economic assessment in a coastal management scenario

Training & development

The ADVANCE program is designed to help you build your career in AECOM. You will attend a number of instructor-led training sessions where you will meet and hear from people across the business and take part in a series of interactive activities to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in your role. Alongside the instructor-led elements of the ADVANCE program, you will also engage with an online curriculum via AECOM university and have the opportunity to join the ADVANCE monthly webinar series.

About you

  • BEng in Civil, Structural, or Coastal Engineering with a 2:1 (or equivalent) or above
  • MEng in Civil, Structural, or Coastal Engineering would be an advantage
  • A final-year project related to Port, Marine, or Coastal Engineering would be an advantage
  • Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive
  • Basic computer skills essential (Word/Excel)
  • Familiarity with the coast protection manual would be an advantage
  • Appreciation of ship simulation and port planning would be an advantage
  • An understanding of the technical aspects of coastal process behavior would be an advantage
