Capgemini is a global leader in consulting, digital transformation, technology, and engineering services. The Group is at the forefront of innovation to address the entire breadth of clients’ opportunities in the evolving world of cloud, digital, and platforms.

In July 2020, Capgemini reported that it has been named as a pioneer in Everest Group's Guidewire IT services called "Guidewire Services PEAK Matrix® Assessment 2020 – Setting the Key Phase on Cloud.n June 2021, Capgemini partners with Sanofi, Orange & Generali to launch Future4care, a European start-up accelerator focused on digital healthcare

In 2018, they acquired the Philadelphia-based digital customer engagement company LiquidHub for US$500 million to assist Capgemini's digital and cloud growth in North America. Its large backend team is based in India. Earlier Capgemini acquisitions included Kanbay for $1.2 billion and iGate for $4 billion.

The Culture

Capgemini's workplace culture reflects the ‘People Matter, Results Count’ slogan. Unlike other companies, its diverse and inclusive environment extends beyond age, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation.

Since 2004, the company has defined diversity by including communication and work styles, experience, and personalities of employees.

A word of caution: the scattered presence of Capgemini means a high probability of travel for certain roles like FTTC employees. Some of them may need to work in a different location with little time for preparation.

In other words, freshers should be flexible enough for disruptive changes and have an on-the-go attitude.

Capgemini's extensive presence in the country means more flexibility for freshers to work in their preferred location. It won’t be easy, though, to join the company because of a thorough recruitment process.

Freshers still have a compelling reason to pursue a career at Capgemini India. With its simplified yet diverse graduate programs, successful candidates can learn a lot for as long as they want to stay with the company.

Recruitment Process

Freshers can expect a response to their applications within seven days if the company sees them be a good match for the advertised role.

The screening for most jobs at Capgemini begins with a phone interview with an HR consultant. The questions will focus on a person’s behavioral and technical skills, as well as other specific matters related to the position.

Further interviews or tests will depend on the role. For instance, aspiring software engineers may need to pass four rounds:

Aptitude and essay test

Freshers answer questions about logical and quantitative reasoning with an accompanying essay-writing section.

Technical aptitude

The shortlisted candidates must show their competency in basic skills (eg algorithms, data structures).

Technical test

Don’t be surprised to solve puzzles during this round. Aside from puzzles, the technical test also includes writing code.

HR interview

At this point, the interviewer would ask about your background, motivation for joining Capgemini India, and career plans.

Feedback or job offer

Since 2020, the company has engaged in virtual recruitment for graduate roles. In-person interviews might still be necessary.

It can take up to one month for candidates to receive feedback or a job offer. Unsuccessful candidates can only apply for jobs again after six months.

Remuneration & Career Growth

Insiders claim that an entry-level employee at Capgemini stays for an average of 2.6 years. While the decision to leave isn’t entirely controlled by the company, there are different programs to improve retention among employees:

E.L.I.T.E. General Management Program

The 12-month program hinges on five aspects for grooming future leaders: Elite, Leadership, International, Technology, and Ecosystem. Freshers from the top business schools are the ideal candidates for the program.

E.L.I.T.E. trainees become a manager after completing the program with the end goal of becoming a vice president after 10 years:

  1. Manager (Year 1)
  2. Senior Manager (Year 2)
  3. Portfolio Manager (Year 4)
  4. Director (Year 6)
  5. Senior Director (Year 8)
  6. Vice President (Year 10)

Fast Track to Consulting Program (FTTC)

This is another 12-month program that allows freshers to solve business problems by combining creative design, finance, and technology. FTTC is the best fit for those who love domestic and international travel, which will take 30% of a person’s work schedule. 

Technical Graduate Program

The company recruits tech students at different engineering institutes and graduate colleges for the Capgemini Exceller program. Most of the work includes cross-functional projects with several teams.

Remuneration

Senior tech roles tend to earn almost double the rate of their entry-level peers. The usual company benefits include health insurance, maternity and paternity leave, and vacation and paid time off.
