What's your job about?
We are the change management team, responsible to train all the trainers and end-users before the actual deployment of the product. We are always communicating with developers, business analysts, QA testers, and clients. Before the actual training with the clients, we are required to test the system. To do this, we must understand the entire functionality of the system and make sure that everything works well. In a way, being part of the change management team, we are business analysts and testers wearing our game face during client meetings and training. We are the first users of the product before the deployment! Imagine this, before launching of iPhone, we, as the change management team gets the privilege to use it first hand. We must be equipped with the knowledge to answer all of the inquiries and this also means dealing with people internally and externally
What's your background?
I am born and raised in a family-oriented household. Growing up, I am always taught to make friends and deal with people. Maybe that’s why, before choosing Engineering, I initially chose Psychology. In engineering school, we were taught to be resourceful and have a deep understanding of science, mathematics, and emerging technologies. With this, I chose to be a developer before working here in Capgemini. Being an SAP developer taught me to be critical and logical. But as I traverse my path toward the technical world, I looked back and I realized that management is what I want to do – dealing, enabling, and empowering people for the people. And I know, by choosing change management, I can achieve the goals that I want.
Could someone with a different background do your job?
Yes, absolutely! I came from a technical program and technical job but still chose a management role. To quote my mentor. “Never stop learning and improve your soft skills”. From what I learned as a young professional is that all the technical skills can be learned and as long as you have the character to move forward, any job is for you to conquer!
What's the coolest thing about your job?
Testing the product before it is officially deployed. Imagine using iPhone before the consumers use it, that’s the best! (but disclaimer: this is not iPhone). As I’ve said, part of the change management team is to be a sort of business analyst and QA testers. That’s what we do!
What are the limitations of your job?
Working in a change management team means being a business analyst and QA tester at the same time. It also means chasing people after people to fix an issue, bridging the gap between the technical persons and clients, and also vesting the clients/consumers for their inquiries. It sounds exhausting and very demanding, but at the end of the day, it is also a fulfilling job to empower and enable the people.
