Pros & Cons

  • The best thing about working at Google is the People. As I have never worked at company where I get to work with all sorts of cool and different characters across the organisation and across the world i.e. APAC, EMEA & AMER.
  • The engineering culture is awesome at Google. Everyone respects people's suggestions. Peers are always open to learn new perspectives.
  • Perks such as food, health insurance, business trips. Competitive salary and good reputation. Managers really look after you.
  • Flexibility in everything. Everyone respects your schedules. You can basically do whatever you want to work in the most efficient ways. Most of them, you can also choose what you like to work on.
  • Nearly-complete ownership over a portion of a project, meaning I am in charge of adding new features (coding/implementing) to the portion and maintaining it (debugging).
  • Sometimes my role can be quite challenging, but I guess at the same time, it's pushing me to continue to be better!
  • Slow pace, have to work around different time zones.
  • Ramping up, steep learning curve. There's lots to learn.
  • I had to relocate for the job.
  • Travelling to my office is a bit difficult.

Google puts a very high incentive on reducing its environmental footprint with its products, facilities, and work/worksites especially with carbon neutrality and only recyclable materials wherever possible.
