7.7
7.7 rating for Recruitment, based on 15 reviews
Please describe the interview process and assessments.
The interview process was standard for a large company. Comes with the standard pros and cons of getting through the great filters of resume screening.
Graduate
I applied for the internship. I had an online interview and then a video call interview on teams
Graduate, Melbourne
The interview was very informal and comfortable - which was a pleasant experience. The only issue was the delay in getting my official contract, I got offered the role the day after my interview but it took 4-5 weeks before I got my formal offer to sign
Graduate, Perth
There were no assessments however there was an initial video interview and from there, a shortlist was created to have in-person interviews. These ran for about 1 hour and were a mix of informal questions getting to know me better and formal questions relating to my career.
Midlevel, Perth
The interview process consisted of a question and answer session followed by a self-description.
Graduate, Brisbane
It’s the standard corporate interview process. Resume, online one-way interview, 3-person panel interview, offer.

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
Can't remember! Things like why do you want to work at Jacobs, what has been a difficult time in a team and how did you navigate that
Graduate, Melbourne
- tell us about yourself - your experience in the criteria they were looking for etc
Graduate, Perth
Why choose the area of engineering that you have applied for? What are your passions and motivations? What activities do you typically do outside of work? Tell us a little bit about what you know about Jacobs.
Midlevel, Perth
The interviewer asked me what my biggest strengths and weaknesses are and how I perform in specific engineering scenarios.
Graduate, Brisbane
Typical questions for a graduate role include how you deal with difficult peers/colleagues, challenges and how you’ve overcome them, willingness to learn, and why you studied for your degree.
Graduate, Adelaide
Tell us about yourself. What is the water industry? What do you think this role will entail? Why are you interested in working in the water industry? What are the greatest challenges facing the water industry?
Graduate, Melbourne
I cant remember. Experience mostly general interview questions.
Midlevel, Melbourne
Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
In general, STAR methods Short relevant info (uni/work projects, past jobs) with tangible outcomes
Graduate
Network!!! Technical skills can be developed, but try nailing your soft skills like leadership, teamwork etc.
Graduate, Melbourne
Interview prep - generating questions based on the roles and responsibilities, also brushing up on key information for your role
Graduate, Perth
I would recommend really being clear on your drives and what motivates you and any examples you can use from uni or prior work that reinforces those things. Typically, an interview is not so much about your technical abilities but more so seeing if you are a good company fit and would work well in a team.

Think about what makes you different from every other applicant. I would suggest they prepare by reviewing common interview questions to help ease nerves when going for the initial interview.
Graduate, Brisbane
If you are applying make sure you embody the company values, eg living inclusion and challenging the status quo. They sound like buzzwords but they are important and worth thinking about. Also bring a placement or honours report you’ve written to your interview and give it to the panel.
Graduate, Adelaide
Be yourself and mention your genuine interests and passion as niche as they may be. Most leaders value individuality, authenticity, and passion highly.
Midlevel, Sydney
Be authentic. Research what kinds of projects the company has done. Have informal interviews with members of the team. Look into our internal networks.
Graduate, Melbourne
No, just be honest.
