Recruitment Process

To attract the best people to our team, we have designed a robust recruitment process that allows us to find the right people for our business. We appreciate that you'll also need to consider whether a role at Korn Ferry is the right fit for you.

Selection criteria and progression through the recruitment process are solely at Korn Ferry's discretion. Our recruitment process will involve most of the activities outlined below but may differ slightly based on the role you have applied for.

At all stages of the process, we are committed to providing you with timely updates. Should you be
unsuccessful at any stage we will notify you as soon as possible via email or phone.

  • Step 1: Your application.

  • Step 2: Phone interview with a recruitment partner.

If your application successfully passes through resume screening, you will receive a phone call from a recruitment partner to conduct a first-round interview. If you are selected to move forward, your recruitment partner will be able to discuss any questions about the assessments required and what you can expect.

  • Step 3: Hiring manager interviews.

If Steps 1 and 2 are successful, you'll be invited to one or more interviews with Korn Ferry hiring managers and other key individuals relevant to the position. We will assess your skills and experience against a number of required competencies for the position and will ask you both behavioral and technical/job-specific questions. You will have the opportunity to find out more detail about the role and of course, ask any questions.

You will also be asked to complete an online psychometric assessment developed specifically for Korn Ferry's internal recruitment process.

  • Step 4: Pre-employment checks and offers.

If you are successful through our selection process we will request you undertake pre-employment checks, which may include reference checks, psychometric and abilities assessments, and a medical check for some roles/ locations. After successful checks, we will provide an offer of employment and contract.

  • Step 5: Onboarding.

Once you have received and accepted your offer of employment and contract, you will get an email from us with information you need to complete before your first day.

Behavioral interviews at Korn Ferry.

Behavioral ' competency-based interviewing is based on the premise that past behavior is the best
predictor of future performance. At Korn Ferry, we have identified the competencies that correlate with success for the role for which you have applied. The interviewer will ask you questions that enable them to determine your strength in those competencies. You will be asked to outline a situation and provide specific examples where you have demonstrated a particular competency in the past.

For example, let's say Influencing is a competency required for the role. The interviewer may ask a
question like: "Describe a challenge you had in persuading an individual or group on a certain course of action. Be specific."

When thinking about your answer, use the ATOLA model to structure your response. ATOLA is a recognized approach for conducting competency-based interviews that allows for deeper discovery with each candidate. ATOLA stands for Actions, Thinking, Outcome, Learnings, and Application. This approach goes beyond a candidate's past successes or failures by looking at associated learnings and application of the experience.

  • Actions. How did you approach it?
  • Thinking. Why did you approach it that way?
  • Outcome. What was the result?
  • Learning. What did you take away from this?
  • Application. When did you use what you learned in a different situation?

Your Interview.

Preparation is key!

  • Know yourself and the role.
Before your interview think about what key skills and attributes you have that would be suited to the role you are being interviewed for. Read over the position description and align your skills, attributes, and capabilities to the requirements of the role. This will help you to articulate your suitability for the role in a concise and confident way.

  • Dress code.
The general rule for interviews is to overdress rather than underdress. Know your audience and who you are meeting with. If you have any doubts don't hesitate to contact your recruiter.

  • First impressions really do count.
And one of the biggest first impressions you can make is arriving on time. Ensure you have all the
necessary details of your interview and give yourself plenty of time to arrive at your destination. It's better to get there a bit early and take the pressure off that comes from running late.

  • Keep your answers specific and on track.
Ensure you come to the interview prepared. It's to your advantage to carefully research Korn Ferry, the job, and the business unit.

  • Have some good questions up your sleeve.
An interview is not only about Korn Ferry finding out more about you but an opportunity for you to find out more about the role and what it's like to work here. By asking informed questions it gives you the ability to demonstrate your interest in the role and that you've done your research too.

  • Be positive.
Try to steer clear of dwelling on past negative experiences at work. Instead, if you've faced challenges in the past, focus on the lessons learned from your experiences and how that will help you in the future.

  • Practice makes perfect.
This maxim could not be truer with job interviews. But remember, an interview is not about memorizing information and going in "rehearsed". Practicing will however help to settle the nerves most people get due to a fear of the unknown.

At Korn Ferry, we take great pride in attracting and hiring exceptional people and providing them with opportunities that allow them to develop their potential and realize their ambitions. We wish you good luck throughout the recruitment process!
