IT (31%), telecom (25%), and tech startups are among the industries that have weathered the pandemic's effect and have seen increased hiring (25%)

In the period July to December 2021, 17% of firms in India were interested in employing new graduates, compared to just 6% internationally. According to TeamLease EdTech's Career Outlook Report, which was performed across 18 industries and 14 locations, hiring sentiment in the nation increased by 2 percentage points from February to April 2021.

Information technology (31%), communications (25%), and technology start-ups are the industries that have been able to survive the effect of the epidemic and have seen a better recruiting trend (25%). Other industries that have performed well include healthcare and pharmaceuticals (23%), logistics (23%), and manufacturing (21%).

According to sources, Bengaluru (43%) is the most popular city for fresher hires, followed by Mumbai (31%), Delhi (27%), Chennai (23%), and Pune (21%). During the period of February to April, about 15% of companies were interested in employing freshers; this mood seems to be not only intact but has solidified further in the current half-year. "  While the job climate is improving, we must keep fresher employability in mind," stated Shantanu Rooj, founder and CEO of TeamLease Edtech.

Hiring by Industry

It has been observed that businesses prefer individuals with specialised abilities, so it's critical for freshers to be well-prepared. According to the results of a survey, health care assistants, sales trainees/associates, full-stack developers, telemarketing, and digital marketing experts are some of the professions for which freshers have been hired in significant numbers across industries.

In India, however, employability is a greater worry than employment, according to Neeti Sharma, president and co-founder of TeamLease EdTech. She continued to suggest that Higher Education Institutions (HEI) should investigate a learning model that combines remote and onsite learning, as well as industry training, to provide applicants with the necessary skill sets.  Employers, on the other hand, must rethink their recruiting and training strategies in order to prepare freshers for the upcoming jobs. In fact, more companies are embracing Hire-Train-Deploy (HTD) to onboard and train new employees. As a result, they will be able to develop a more capable staff in the future.

Employers want applicants with in-depth knowledge and abilities in areas such as data analytics, sales/customer service, data engineering, python programming, project management, artificial intelligence, and digital marketing.

Programming, mobile app development, AI and data science, cyber-security, research, and management are among the most in-demand courses, according to a report.
