Bangalore offers the highest salary for data science specialists in India

The pace at which companies across many sectors are changing to digital business models creates a vast volume of data that must be successfully managed in order for them to succeed in today's hyper-competitive market. Indeed, the flood of data has resulted in the creation of several job roles based on years of expertise in many sectors. In an ever-changing profession, determining the appropriate salary based on positions and years of expertise has been a difficulty for business executives and corporations.

In India, the average salary for data science specialists grew by 25.4% year on year to INR 16.8 lakhs per year.

Overall, the median salary has increased by 25.4% to INR 16.8 lakhs per year, up from INR 16.8 lakhs the previous year.

• In comparison to previous year, the percentage of data science experts in the INR 15-25 lakhs and 25-50 lakhs brackets increased dramatically from 14.5% to 20.5% and 7.8% to 13.7%, respectively.
• Bangalore has the highest median compensation for data science specialists, at INR 19.1 lakhs per year, followed by Mumbai at INR 17.5 lakhs per annum.
• Data science specialists in the Internet/ eCommerce industry earn the most money, with INR 25.8 lakhs per year, followed by INR 24.3 lakhs per year in Banking/Insurance.
• Top-tier engineering students (IITs, NITs, etc.) earn INR 27.6 lakhs per year on average, which is INR 8.2 lakhs more than their counterparts from other engineering institutions.
• The median income difference in data science is INR 6.1 lakhs per year between male (INR 18.3 lakhs per annum) and female (INR 12.2 lakhs per annum) professionals.
• Data Architect (INR 25.6 lakhs per annum), Big Data Analyst (INR 20.0 lakhs per annum), and AI/ML Engineer are the top three highest-paid professions in the data science sector (INR 17.8 lakhs per annum).
• Professionals with competence in data science technologies such as KubeFlow and MLFlow earn between INR 26.0 lakhs and INR 24.2 lakhs per year on average. This is followed by MLFlow, Qlikview, Kubernetes at INR 24.2, 18.1, and 17.7 lakhs per year, respectively.
• Professionals in the 6-10 year category showed the greatest increase in compensation, up 55.5% to INR 20.4 lakhs per year. Professional salaries grew by 52.5% in 10-12 years and 49.2% in 3-6 years, respectively.
• Salary increase for professionals with 0-3 years of experience is 42.8%, which is lower than that of professionals with 3-12 years of experience.
• Due to a greater salary base than other categories, the rise for professionals with more than 12 years of experience was the smallest, at 25.2%.
